Mark J has been listening to good music since the age of around 14 years of age. The first record Mark brought was "Rockmaster Scott" - "The roof is on fire" a rap track that came out around 1986, from Groove Records in London. During these years he was also heavily in Electro, 80's Soul, Funk and Rare groove. In 1991 Mark started to put Hip Hop events on alongside Mark B (Mark B and Blade)and in around 1993 started to DJ House and Garage music although still playing and loving Soul, RnB and Hip Hop. In 1999 Mark J thought it was a good idea to get involved into the producing side of music and take his musical knowledge to the next level. Mark is not the engineer but he does have an excessive amount of input into each song. The first of his co produced tracks that was a fairly big record was: "BROTHERZ IN LAW" - "U.N.D.E.R.G.R.O.U.N.D" This was signed to the PURE GARAGE 3 & BASS BREAKS & BEATS compilation and also signed to LOCKED ON records. After a change of partners at the end of 2000 Mark alongside Rob D produced the "CUM CAKES" track. This track was signed to Honeybeat Recordings with the vocal talents of MC B-LIVE and has been featured on the following compilations: GARAGE NATION URBAN KISS SHAKE IT UP LOVIN IT PURE GARAGE 5 MINISTRY THE ANNUAL 2002 ADDICTED TO BASS Mark then thought is was about time to cut out the middle independent labels and start up his own label. This is when Deviate was formed. Our aim at Deviate is to work a track and make it a hit (we can all dream..!!) and also to pass on our productions to all the major record labels. We are not looking for any records for our label we are looking for cutting edge stuff and stuff that is original and catchy.
